Stress & Stuff

Lately, I've been feeling kind of overwhelmed. I feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day for all the things that need to be done. Throw in shopping for my daughter's birthday gifts + working on a blog redesign and I'm left feeling...tired.

You know the whole idea I had about throwing a big ol' rainbow party for Lola's first birthday? Welp, we've decided not to do it after all. If we were back home, it'd be a different story, but we're not. We're in a new town with no family and only a handful of friends. And, let's be real, a party for a 1 year old isn't really for the baby anyway. (sidenote: if you do have a big party for your bebeh, more power to you - we're just choosing not to)

We didn't do anything big for Nico's first birthday (just cooked out & had cake with a few close friends), so I think we'll do the same for Lola. My mom has a layover in DC the day before (she's a flight attendant), so we plan on celebrating then. Maybe take the kids to a play place, bake her a cake, keep it simple. We'll save the big birthday parties till she's a bit older, when she'll actually remember them.

Removing party planning from my to-do list has made things a little easier, but I'm still feeling anxious for some reason. I'm pretty sure if I could find a better way to manage my time, a good portion of my stress would be lifted. Well, this and learning how to focus on one thing at a time (is this even possible with kids?).

Do other mom's get this feeling? I know I can't be the only one experiencing this. How do you cope with this sense of overwhelmedness? Any time management tips or tricks you'd like to share? Cuz, lawd knows, I could use a few.
