Life's been pretty good to us lately, so no complaints here. My mom didn't make it out last week, but since she's cancelled three times prior to this, I sort of anticipated it. Oh well, we had fun anyway. I went ahead and took a break from blogging as I had planned on doing because, well, I wanted to. Nico starts school in a couple weeks and I wanted to enjoy this last bit of his summer break without any added distractions. It was nice. So nice, in fact, that I think I'll be doing it more often. Probably not for weeks at a time (other than when I have my surgery, because obviously), but a couple days here and there. This little blog vacay has really given me a chance to gain perspective on things. My kids are only this age once and I want to soak up every last bit of it. Therefore, I'll be cutting myself some slack when it comes to posting. Instead of 4-5 weekly posts, I'm aiming for three. Sometimes I'm sure it'll be more and others less, but that's the goal. This time is too precious to miss, you know?
As far as my ankle goes, I'm beginning to see some real progress. According to my physical therapist, I have a ways to go before I have full range of motion again, but still, I'm pretty excited. On Friday, I successfully drove (for the first time since May) for about 30 minutes with no pain. Hurray! This is kind of a big deal because now I know I'll be able to drive Nico to and from school when he starts back (something I've been stressing about). Also, I've begun walking with one crutch instead of two, which has freed up one of my hands for wrangling children and whatnot. Now the kids and I are now able to get out during the day without help, which is really nice.
In other news, we've been working hard at turning Nico's room into a "big boy" room. We finally took apart the toddler bed over the weekend and set up his new twin bed. We also braved Ikea for the 2nd time in two weeks to get him a dresser. I'd eventually like to get him an antique one, but since the thrift stores around here had zip, this'll work for now until we find exactly what we're looking for. We haven't put it together yet, but are hoping to this week, and then I've been ordering things here and there to hang/put up in his room. It's been really fun, actually. I'll be posting pics once it's all finished, so be on the lookout for that!
What have y'all been up to lately? Are you guys enjoying the cooler weather as much as we are? It's been so nice to have a bit of a break from the extreme heat. Here's to hoping it stays this way!
Have just stumbled on your blog from Petite Biet. It's so cute--I love the bright colors. I have to go back and read so I understand all that's been "lately." :) What is that adorable house book there?!

Thanks! It's actually a puzzle. I'm pretty sure I got it either off Amazon on Land of Nod.
ReplyDeleteI think posting 3 times a week is just fine. Sometimes I stress out too much about posting but I think being present in life is so much more important. The one good thing about the pressure to post though is that it makes me do things that I might otherwise put off- like snapping more pictures, making that recipe I have wanted to make forever or getting a project done.
