Weigh-In Day: Post Surgery {Week 1}

Technically, it's been 2 weeks (to the day) since I had surgery, but the first week I was holding on to a lot of water weight, so there wasn't much to report. I figured it was fair to give my body a week to recover before I started weighing myself, so here we are: Week 1. And I'm happy to report that I've lost...

Weight Lost This Week: 12 lb.
Total Weight Loss: 12 lb.

Crazy, right? I don't think I lost this much total during my last go at this! What's even more awesome is that I lost 13 lb. during the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery, so I've actually lost a total of 25 pounds. But for the purpose of tracking my weight here, I'd like to focus on what I lose post-surgery, so 12 pounds it is! By the end of this, I wanna lose a total of 100 lb., so just 88 more to go!

I have to admit, this whole process has been more difficult than I thought. Not that it's not totally worth it, but yeah, it hasn't been easy to get used to. First off, I can't eat anything yet. I mean, I'm not really that hungry, but I'd still like to progress to something other than broth, jello and protein shakes (I am so over protein shakes). Yesterday, I was able to add some tomato soup to the mix, so there's that. But as far as soft foods? My body just isn't ready yet. I've tried pureed taco soup (a recipe from a friend), mashed potatoes, refried beans and mashed avocado, but after like 2 bites, I start sweating and feel sick to my stomach. It just isn't worth it, you know? I've been instructed to try again in a few days, so we'll see how that goes. Secondly, I'm just not feeling all that great. But I know that I just had major surgery and it's gonna take some time to get back to normal. I've heard that it can take between 4-6 weeks, so I'm just trying to hang in there till then.

Don't get me wrong, I know that I made the right decision in having this surgery. I mean, the results speak for themselves. I've just got to get through this recovery process and I'll be golden. It's getting better day by day (I was even able to take Nico to school today), so I'm sure I'll be feeling like myself in no time at all.

If you're tracking your weight loss, be sure to link it in the comments below so I can read about it and cheer you on! Support is so important with something like this.

  2. Twenty-five pounds is no joke, woman. Yay!

    I've lost 13 lbs. in the three weeks I've stopped eating after 8 p.m. I'm pretty excited about it!

    How does the recovery compare with C-section recovery (am I remembering right that you had a C-section)? And sorry if this is too personal a question ... just ignore me if it is!

  3. That's awesome! Congrats!! It was a little more painful than the C-section because of the drain tube, but once that got taken out, it wasn't too bad at all.

  4. Still, I remember the C-section recovery, and that sucked hard. And a drain tube? Seems rough. Hope you're feeling 100% soon! :-)
