Weigh-In Day: Post Surgery {Week 3}

I've now been keeping track of my weight for 3 weeks, although it's technically been 4 weeks (to the day) since I had my surgery. This week I lost...

Weight Lost This Week: 3 lb.
Total Weight Loss: 16 lb.

Pretty cool, right? I know it's not a huge weight loss or anything, but I was told that this week I'd start stalling, so I can assume it's only gonna pick up from here! Although, I'd be happy if I lost 3 pounds next week, too! I mean, this is far, far better than I was able to do on my own. Besides, with the weight I lost during the 2 week pre-op diet, I've technically lost 29 lb., which is just awesome to me!

In terms of what I'm able to eat, it's still, basically, the same as last week. I can pretty much eat what I want, but don't because that's not the point, you know? For instance, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich over the weekend, but was satisfied with just a few bites of the meat (minus the bun). I still get full incredibly fast, which is uncomfortable at times, but overall, it's been a really good thing.

Another thing I haven't really touched on is my attitude. See, I used to have this big chip on my shoulder. I think I was more upset about being overweight than I even knew. Now that I've had the surgery, I feel like I'm starting to get my life back! Besides having way more energy, I just feel more excited about any and everything! This has been a total game changer for not only me, but my husband as well. I complain far less and am much more positive, which is something he's really taken notice of. I am loving life and it really shows (cheesy but true).

Something I'll be incorporating into this week's routine is using My Fitness Pal again. Not only to keep track of the amount of calories/fat/carbs I'm consuming, but also to make sure I'm getting enough protein (something that's really important post-surgery). I try to get my protein in first at each meal, but am not really sure where I stand in terms of numbers. I'm supposed to get in 60-70 grams a day, so we'll see how this goes. I'm certainly gonna try my best to reach this goal.

If you've had WLS or are dieting, I'd love to hear about it! Feel free to either comment below or email me! And good luck!

  1. That's awesome! I can't believe you've already lost 29 lbs. It's so interesting (and inspiring) to read about this whole process. I just started Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago. So far I like it because I get crazy points due to nursing full time, but dear lord it's SLOWWWW. Anyway, congrats on the weight loss! Woohoo!

  3. Way to go! I'm on your heels with 2 weeks post surgery. I feel good overall; but there are days that I feel weak and lightheaded when I stand too fast. You're brave to try the pulled pork. Perhaps, at wk 4, I'll be there too. Can't wait for your next post. By the way, were you frustrated with food choices week 2 & 3?

  4. I'm cheering you on!

    Still holding steady with my 13-lb. loss (not eating after 8), hopefully I can drop a few more this week.

  5. Don't worry, it'll pass. Week 3 is where I really started to feel back to normal again. And yes, the food choices are frustrating, which is why I went with my instincts when deciding what to eat. Once I was okay with soft foods (around 2 1/2 to 3 weeks), I kind of went from there, trying new things each day. Honestly, if I were stuck eating creamy canned soups, I never would've eaten. I tried to Cheese Broccoli and just no! It makes me gag even thinking about it. Hang in there, lady! It'll definitely get easier. I feel 100% back to normal!! P.S. How's your weight loss coming along?

  7. Yes, I think I'm right there...puree no more! One other thing is the mental changes I'm going through. Its so weird smelling familiar food, going for it and then saying, "Wait a minute! I can't have that." Oh well, I'm excited for the future. As for weight loss, since day 1 of this process (like around the seminar) until now, I've lost 33 lbs. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
